A hotel joinery package is four hundred small projects with one deadline, and an Excel tracker cannot hold four hundred truths at once. Material submittals and samples are typed documents with revisions, comments and response ages, so the veneer that is still waiting on the consultant is visible, not remembered. A take-off cannot be built for a zone until its material submittal is approved — or the verbal go-ahead is recorded as a fact with a name on it.
A revised drawing is appended, never overwritten; the prior revision is flagged superseded and stops the floor for that zone. Every workshop stage stamp records who, when and which revision it was performed to, so the room built to the old dimensions is identifiable, not argued about.
Zones cannot enter production without an approved drawing and issued material. QC passes each zone before dispatch; the delivery note prints a QR per zone, and a scan on site opens that room’s whole history. Installation is recorded daily against the room’s quantity, and a site rejection becomes a rework round with its cause, photos and cost.
A room cannot be handed over until its inspections are approved. Progress claims derive previous quantities from the last invoice — four hundred rooms cannot be double-claimed — and carry the goods receipts and inspection records as evidence.
Joinery is managed room by room, and its two defining risks are that the material is organic and that the site dimensions are not what the drawing said.
Shop drawings plus a physical sample and finish approval — veneer, laminate, paint, stain, edge and hardware. Approval on a sample is a commitment to a specific material, and it is the reference every later dispute is measured against.
Veneer is sequence-matched: leaves from one log or one bundle are laid up in order so that a run of doors or a wall panel reads as continuous. Mixing bundles across a room is visible and is not repairable after finishing, so the batch identity of the material has to survive from receipt to the machine. Timber also moves with humidity; material received and stored at the wrong moisture content will not stay flat after installation into an air-conditioned interior.
Nothing is cut to a drawing dimension where a site dimension can be taken instead. Openings move, blockwork is out of plumb, and a wardrobe made to a drawing that the wall no longer matches is remade at the contractor's cost. The operational control is that the verified dimension, and the revision it produced, reaches the workshop before release.
Machining, assembly, sanding and finishing, with a quality decision before anything leaves. Finished joinery is then the most vulnerable material on the project: it is delivered into a space where other trades are still working, so protection and the condition record at handover matter as much as the manufacture.

Snags on joinery are frequently damage caused by following trades rather than defects in manufacture, and a dated photographic record taken at handover is what separates the two — which is a commercial question, not a quality one.
