The large construction platforms are good at what they were built for: coordinating documents, RFIs and subcontractors across every trade on a project, from the general contractor’s seat. They were not built for a company that runs a factory. A general contractor never fabricates, so the platform has no store with batches, no incoming QC that decides whether stock may be issued, no factory stages, no dispatch held until QC passes, no goods receipt doing partial-delivery arithmetic against a PO. A fabricating contractor using one keeps the real operation running in Excel underneath it.
The whole record chain: submittal register with revisions and response ages, PO approval, goods receipts that mint stock batches and queue QC, take-off gated on the approved material submittal, production stages with inspection before dispatch, a QR on every shipped zone, daily installed quantities capped at the zone quantity, MIR and WIR, budget to variation to claim. Priced per company, not per seat — so the storekeeper and the drivers are in it, which is what makes the record complete.
Built by contractors in the trade, and it shows in the vocabulary: the store screen speaks storekeeper, the delivery note records the name on the proof of delivery, and the audit line says “Direct approval by X” — a fact, never a verdict.
